What exactly does it mean that I'm running for "City-Parish Council, District 5"? It's maybe not as straightforward as school board or mayor. Here's an explanation!
In 1996 the City of Lafayette joined with the Parish of Lafayette.and theLafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) became responsible for governing both. The parish is divided into 9 districts, each one represented by a councilperson, and together these nine people form the legislative body of LCG.
What this means is that my role is to represent the people of my district effectively on a parish level. I should be easily accessible and try to solve any problem that the people in my district have, as well as research and make the most informed and best decisions possible for lawmaking in the area.
My qualifications and dedication to Acadiana make me the best person for the job. PLEASE DONATE to my campaign to ensure this happens!
Please also tell me if you liked this post! I think I'll start a hashtag#ForAcadianaVoters to give you history and information on things going on here. I'll try to make it every Tuesday, even after I get elected. Let me know what you think, and have a great day!
A short interview with local bicycle and complete streets advocate, Dr. Monique Koll. She explains the benefits of communities that take an interest in responsibly planning for the active transportation needs of its residents. Places like Teche Ridge that utilize such designs see financial, health and cultural benefits that greatly improve residents' quality of life.
My friends prompted me to start a series of short videos about my everyday life so you can get to know me better. This is the first installment of "A Day in the Life of Me" thanks to PieLawn Productions
I totally win life by prevailing over the past few months and not spilling the beans on this top-secret government project. How awesome is this?
I'm meeting with community members in my district on an informal level to hear their thoughts on what I should focus on. I like the idea of people being comfortable talking to me without a camera crew making them nervous.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get the RSS feed from Facebook on here, but in the meantime, you can use this link: Dr. Monique Koll For City-Parish Council
